VintageGingerPeaches.com Contest!

So here is my entry for the VitageGingerPeaches.com contest! The rules were basically do something creative using inspiration from Martha (Stewart of course.) I LOVE doing crafty things, but haven't had much time... until now! I am so excited to get back to doing things again!
My inspiration comes from 2 Martha crafts. Years ago I saw her add sparkle to pumpkins. And I did it! I loved it. I coated pumpkins with gold, red, and colorful glitters. But the last one I did was with a Diamond Dust that I got from Michael's. It was my favorite! You could see the pumpkin through it and it looked like frost. I wished that I had done them all this way!
This year I was inspired by the cover of Martha Stewart Living October 2009 issue. She made pumpkins into a toadstool garden! So cute!
Thus, I was inspired to create a pumpkin garden with toadstools in the morning frost!
I sparkelified my pumpkins by using Elmer's Glue and painting it on. Then I sprinkled the Diamond Dust on and let them dry. (I only did 1/2 of the pumpkin at a time.) Then I remembered that I had some spray on Craft Bond. It was a ton quicker then painting on the Elmer's Glue, but my little helper didn't have as much fun. And with the glue I felt like I got on more glitter.

Another tool you'll need is a sassy little helper.

I got an assortment of squashes, cucumbers, and pumpkins.

For the toadstools I cut a pumpkin in half. And of course made it sparkly!

Here I put half of the hollowed out pumpkin on top of a squash! I cut the bottom of the squash so it would stand up straight. You might need to cut the top too depending on how it is shaped. In Martha she recommends using pokey stickes to stabilize it, but I didn't find it necessary.

Here are some more of the assorted pumpkins I found with the "frost" on them.

I would have loved to have made an outdoor garden like Martha, but alas, my garden is either weeds, gravel, or just looks like crap. (I'm renting!) So I decided to put mine indoor on top of my bookshelf. I think it looks great!

And here is the finished product all together. I had some candles I thought I throw in there as well.

Thank you Courtney for inspiring me to get crafty again!
