So, this is a sad post, but the story I must tell. The last ski of the summer was in the middle of last month. It was amazing. It was warm, but not hot, and there were no boats on the lake because it was 5:30 pm on a Thursday. The water was like glass. I was the last to take a run, the sun was setting, it was beautiful. I had a couple good cuts, it just felt like a good note to end the summer on.Then I saw them, a flock of geese. So I cut out of the wake to buzz them and give them a good scare. They all hurredly flew out of my way... all but one. I felt as if time was suspended. I watched as the goose struggled to get out of the water as I was headed directly to it. A million thoughts crossed my mind: will it dunk under the water (unlikely), will it go left, will it go right, and if that is the case, which way should I go?
All of my thoughts were for naught. I ran directly in the the little sucker. I felt it hit the front of my ski with a giant thud, then roll slightly along it until I felt one more ferocious thud as it hit the fin. I concentrated with all of my might to hang on and not fall. The last thing I want to do is hang out in the water with a dead or distressed goose.
My only prayer is that the goose was not a mother, as I am almost positive I put it completely out of it's misery.
However, I was only half way done with my run. The water was still as smooth as glass. So... on with the show!

That IS sad! Don't worry, I am sure that it was injured in the first place and the members of it's flock were just swooping down to protect it and nurse it back to health so they can all get back to the flock. :) I am sure you just saved them a lot of catching up & the one well....he's gone on to a better place! A place where girls don't swerve to kick them while they are down! HA! LOVE YA!
You are too funny! :)
Um, I don't think she's sad Amy... don't you know Horch girls? :) I love how Amy just made up a happy ending... doesn't you mother in law do that Amy? Funny!
Now I don't wonder why Brooklyn is so obsessed with blood and death lately :)
Courtney is right. But I don't know why Brooks is obsessed with blood, she wasn't even there!
